NFL Week 9 Best Bets

NFL Week 9 Best BetsWeek 9 marks the halfway mark or beyond for every team in this bizarre 2020 NFL season. There is still one undefeated team left, the 7-0 Pittsburgh Steelers, who head to Texas to face the Dallas Cowboys.

Six of the games this week pit teams with records at or better than .500 against each other. Interestingly, only one of those games -- New Orleans at Tampa Bay -- involves teams from the same division.

Game of the Week

The Buffalo Bills are 6-2 and hold a 1.5-game lead on the Dolphins in the AFC East. They host the top NFC team, the 6-1 Seahawks, who are making their third trip to the East Coast. The last two visits were successful, with wins over the Falcons and Dolphins.

If you’re following recent football news, you’ll know the Seahawks have compiled the best record in the NFC despite giving up the most yards in the league. They’ve managed to win all but one game by scoring a league-best 34 points a game. Seattle has only beaten one team with a winning record yet is a three-point favorite in Buffalo.

Even though they lead their division, the Bills have been outscored on the season. That doesn’t bode well against a high-scoring team like Seattle. Have you seen the premium picks over on Action Sports Picks?

It will either take a great defensive effort or an offensive explosion for Buffalo to pull an upset. The over/under of 55.0 is the highest for any game in Week 9.

Division Rivals Rematch

In Week 1, Tom Brady started his first game for the Buccaneers against the Saints in an empty Superdome. This week, after leading the Bucs to six wins in their last seven games, Brady will again face the Saints. There will be over 16,000 fans in attendance at Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium.

The first game was a 34-23 win for 5-2 New Orleans, so Brady will be looking for revenge. The only blemish for the Bucs since the loss has been a 20-19 defeat by Chicago.

Tampa Bay is favored by 5.5 points in what should be an entertaining Sunday night game. The over/under is 51.

The Bucs rely on a rushing defense that gives up 70 yards a game and 3.2 yards per carry. They’ve also picked off 11 passes and have a turnover margin of plus-6. This is a much better Tampa Bay team than the Saints saw in the opening game of the season.

Perfection Watch

The NFL is down to two teams with zeroes in their records. The unbeaten Steelers will be taking on the 2-6 Cowboys.

Things have changed a lot with Dallas this season, with Pittsburgh a 13.5-point favorite. The Cowboys are giving up over 33 points and 170 rushing yards a game, both league worsts.

In time of possession, Pittsburgh ranks fourth in the league while Dallas is 27th. The over/under for the game is 42.

Still looking for their first win, the New York Jets host New England on Monday night. Losers of their last four games, the 2-5 Patriots enter the game as seven-point favorites.

The 0-8 Jets are averaging an anemic 11.75 points a game, by far the worst in the NFL. It’s pretty hard to win when you can’t score.
