Best Bets to Make & Miss the 2020 NFL PlayoffsThe 2020 NFL season will be upon us before we know it. Teams begin reporting to training camps in July and Week 1 is less than 100 days away.

With the league voting to add one additional team to the playoffs this season, there may be some surprises come postseason time. With the latest odds to make or miss the 2020 NFL playoffs out, here are your best bets on the board.

Atlanta Is In

It has been a few years since the Falcons have been to the playoffs. After appearing to have a Super Bowl victory in 2016, Atlanta suffered through back-to-back 7-9 seasons in 2018 and ‘19.

Last year, Atlanta finished strong going 6-2 in its final eight games. They added RB Todd Gurley and TE Hayden Hurst in free agency and first-round pick CB A.J. Terrell will help on defense.

With former league MVP Matt Ryan and WR Julio Jones on offense and the Falcons schedule, Atlanta to make the playoffs at +200 is a bet worth making for those betting football.

Year of the Cardinal

Arizona hasn’t been to the playoffs since losing in the NFC title game in 2015. NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Kyler Murray is a quarterback on the rise and now he’ll have DeAndre Hopkins to throw to. It should be a deadly combination.

Murray led the Cardinals to a win over Seattle and then almost pulled another upset in the season finale over the Rams. Arizona is a longshot at +230 in a loaded NFC West, but the additional wild card gives them a chance to get in.

Cowboys Out

The Cowboys’ continued underachievement led to the firing of former head coach Jason Garrett. Former Packers head coach Mike McCarthy takes over. Dallas has a roster full of talent. Still, they managed just an 8-8 mark last season.

Philadelphia is the class of the NFC East and with the NFC West and NFC South potentially having six combined playoff teams, the odd team out is Dallas. At +200 to miss the playoffs, bettors can get a nice payout on the Cowboys misfortune.

Houston, No Problem

There are still many asking what Bill O’Brien was thinking when he shipped off WR DeAndre Hopkins to Arizona. For Texans fans (and bettors looking for value), it’s not a problem.

Houston still has Will Fuller V and O’Brien signed Brandin Cooks and Randall Cobb in free agency. All O’Brien has done in six years in Houston is win the AFC South four times and produce five winning seasons.

While many see the Hopkins trade as a huge gaffe, bettors should lock in Houston at +150 to make the playoffs again in 2020.

NFL Win Totals Betting Prediction: Minnesota Vikings

Brady, Bucs Out

The biggest moves of the offseason saw future Hall of Famers QB Tom Brady and TE Rob Gronkowski move to Tampa Bay. Instantly, the Bucs odds to win the NFC South, NFC, and Super Bowl improved dramatically.

Brady will have Gronkowski and wide receivers Mike Evans and Chris Godwin on offense. Both Evans and Godwin went over 1,000 yards receiving last season. There is no doubt the Tampa Bay offense will be prolific.

The problem is on defense where Tampa Bay did have the league’s best run defense and the NFL sacks leader in Shaq Barrett (19.5). The issue is that the Bucs gave up over 28 points per game. If they do that again, there is no way they are making the postseason.

The Bucs have been awful on defense for the better part of the past decade. That, plus the fact they haven’t been to the postseason since 2007, makes them a solid bet to miss the 2020 postseason at +165.
